Fenland runners make their mark at Stamford




Fenland Running Club members recorded personal bests and age-category wins during a busy week of activity for the club.

Runners took on both the Peterborough 5K Series and the Heckington 10-mile race and delivered some strong performances in both.

The week began with the fourth race of the Peterborough 5K Series in Stamford, hosted by Stamford Striders.

Nine Fenland runners took part, with Andrew Plume leading the charge in a brilliant time of 16:47, securing ninth place overall.

Among the standout performances was Melissa Milham, who broke the 23-minute barrier for the first time, finishing in 22:54 and earning a new PB.

Milham continues to pursue her ambitious goal of setting personal bests across all club championship distances.

Other strong finishes included Aaron Porter (18:19), Rimvydas Mudruras (19:57), Katie Woodcock (20:43), and Ann Trett (21:32), all showing impressive form.

Also representing the club were Jac Richards (25:33), Andrew Mallett (28:55), and Zoe Thorton (29:04).

Over the weekend, attention turned to the Heckington 10-mile race, part of the historic Heckington Show.

Eleven Fenland members tackled the rural course in near-perfect running conditions.

Leading the club home was Pete Lunt with a superb PB time of 1:08:07.

A special mention goes to Carol Bowett, who not only ran a PB of 1:12:58 but also won her age category.

Other notable results included Dan Tickner (1:13:08), Tom Richards (1:16:15), Ann Trett (1:16:26), and more PBs for Melissa Milham, Stuart Cheslett, and Zoe Thorton.
