Wisbech Town suffer another defeat after second half capitulation against Ashby Ivanhoe

Wisbech Town slipped to within two points of the relegation area after their defeat at home to Ashby Ivanhoe.

It was another Jekyll and Hyde from Luke Hipwell's side at Fountain Fresh Park.

The Fenmen were excellent and dominated for long periods of the first 45 minutes before waving a white flag in the second half.

"We were all over them in the first half but very poor in the second half," admitted coach Ross McNeil.

Wisbech conceded in the first minute when Sam Grouse scored for The Knights but hit back through a Toby Allen penalty - his fifth goal of the season - after 12 minutes.

The visitors regained the lead 11 minutes later through Jordan Wilson, only for the home side to hit back through an own goal to make it 2-2 at the break.

Individual errors again proved costly as the home side leaked three goals in the second half.

It was all Ivanhoe in the second half and they made it 3-2 in the 53rd minute with Grouse’s second, Chris Acott in the 71st minute made it four and Will Groocock completed the scoring in added-on time.

On Saturday, The Fenmen travel to play mid-table Heanor Town.

Wisbech Town: Lakin, Freeman, Murphy, Zaluzinskis, Mattless, Williams, Cavozzi, Lennon, Foster, Allen, Ward. Subs (used): Arber, Falcao, Harris, Nicholson, Wilson.

Attendance: 156.
