Wisbech Town HC Ladies 1st XI have enjoyed a perfect start to their pre-season campaign.

After securing a 4-2 win against Spalding earlier this month, with Izzy Pope bagging a brace, they travelled to King’s Lynn-based Pelicans HC last weekend, where four goals from forward Jo Gomm helped them to a 7-0 victory.

They will now begin their new league season with a trip to Cambs South on Saturday for their first game in the East Area Women’s Division 1 North following their promotion last year.

There was also success at LynnSport for Wisbech Ladies 2nd XI, who ran out 4-1 winners against Pelicans.

Sam Pritchard (2), Emma Baker, and Lou Sandall all found the net. Next, they host Spalding 3rd XI on Saturday (12PM) for the first league game of the year.

Wisbech mens sides were also victorious at the weekend, with the 1st XI putting in a solid performance to beat Long Sutton 5-3 at Harecroft Road. Forward Jamie Hallatt scored twice and picked up an assist during the win.

They will kick off their Men’s Division 1 North campaign with a trip to UEA this Saturday.

A resounding 12-1 win for the Mens 2nd XI against Ely provided a significant confidence boost ahead of their Division 3 North West opener against Cambs South 3rd XI.

The 3rd XI beat local rivals March 2-1 thanks to goals from Jason Thomas and Bradley Burton.
