Chatteris pro boxer Jordan Gill: I could've been one sparring session away from heart failure after treatment for thyroid problem
Chatteris boxer Jordan Gill revealed he has had treatment for a thyroid problem which caused his heart to race.
Gill, who has won all but one of his 25 professional bouts, told the Boxing Social: "Before Christmas I was diagnosed with a thyroid condition; it's hereditary. I was training and not feeling right. My heart rate was going through the roof, way past where it should be.
"I went to the doctor's and got my blood checked. I had to make some changes.
"I wasn't allowed to train until we sought the proper medical professional's advice.
"I had the treatment and hopefully now I can push on. I'm training and I feel like it's not holding me back in training now, and I'm doing well.
"I'm not sure when it was triggered it but I'd not been feeling right for a long time. I could've been one sparring session away from heart failure: the doctor told me that.
The Chatteris pro revealed on social media at the weekend: "I’m excited to be back in the ring and looking to be fighting in March, exact date and details to be confirmed soon!"
