Raft of medals for Wisbech In-line Speed Skating team
The Wisbech In-line Speed Skating team travelled to Stourport in Worcestershire for the first race of the outdoor season.
The day provided light rain in the morning and a slippery track at times but the WISS competitors coped well with the conditions and brought home a raft of medals.
Racing took part in age categories with a 100m sprint, one-lap time trial and finally the marathon distances for each age group.
Kirby Barker and Danni Stafford Allen took Gold in all three of their races, with Taylor Barker taking Gold in the 100m sprint and Silver in the second two races.
Holly Gray took home three silvers at her first outdoor meet and her brother Alex took bronze with an amazing performance in his first 15km distance race.
Oscar Clarkson was also at his first outdoor event and achieved silver in the 100m sprint and bronze in his second two races.
Leah Barker crossed the line first in her 100m sprint only for the race to be re-run following a timing issue. Leah took silver in the re-run, missing out on Gold by 0.14 seconds and took Bronze and Silver in her next two races.
In the Senior category, Warren Eve slipped at the start of the 100m race and failed to qualify for the final but came back to take Silver in the one-lap TT and Gold in the full Marathon, despite a fall on the first lap.
Tim Fitches had a great day’s racing, taking Gold in the 100m Masters sprint and Bronze in his next two races.
