Wisbech Town boss Allan Ross praises Loughborough Dynamo performance ahead of Shepshed Dynamo clash
Wisbech Town manager Allan Ross praised the improvements his players made in their 2-0 defeat to Loughborough Dynamo.
The Fenmen remain second from bottom in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Midlands Division table, but will take heart from a much better showing against the 12th-placed side.
James Tague gave the home side he lead after 11 minutes, with Kevin Da Silva Bastos sealing the victory in the final minute after Sam Bennett had an equaliser ruled out for offside.
Despite the result and the urgent need for points, newly-appointed Ross was pleased with what he saw.
“It was a huge improvement from the Daventry game. I felt the ambience and atmosphere in the changing room was so much better pre-match,” he said.
“We certainly had our chances in the first half, hitting the bar and their goalkeeper made a superb save.
“In the second half we gave them a really good go. Overall, it was a good performance. If you were a neutral you’d have been happy with the game because it was quite end to end - it was almost like a basketball game.
“There was a good positive energy, and I got some good feedback from the fans. I think they appreciated how well we played.”
Wisbech face another away trip this weekend when they travel to face Shepshed Dynamo, who currently occupy 15th spot in the table.
Ross believes his players can take heart from their most recent outing when they go on the search for three points on Saturday.
He said: “We can now go into the game thinking ‘I wonder what will happen if we score the first goal’.
“When we concede first we can be down and out, but it wasn’t like that on Saturday. So I wonder what it will be like if we score first this weekend - it might be a totally different end result for us.”
In the past week, the Fenmen have been rocked by the departures of Brody Warren and Toby Allen.
However, they have since added striker Jordan Nuttell, loanee defender Josh Burkitt and defensive midfielder Jude Adebayo to their ranks.
Ross is happy with his singings, with Adebayo making his debut against Loughborough and Nuttell set to make his bow this weekend.
“Nuttell is a 6’6” player who will give us a completely different dynamic to what we have in the current squad,” he said. “He also allows us to change formation, so we will be switching up the formation on Saturday to accommodate him.”
