Wisbech kept the pressure and scoreboard ticking over, from a ruck Dady powering his way over from five metres out. Howard converted to take Wisbech 21-0 ahead into half-time.

Ari Baghdouyan, who came on in the second half, made an immediate impact but his try was disallowed. Nic Little, now playing in the centres, beat two defenders for a converted score to make it 26-0.

Quick ball from Tim Bateman found Dady who completed his hat-trick.

Several players caught the eye, in the backs Fabian Simpson was solid under the high ball and posed a real threat from full back, Angus Bell managed the game well and looked dangerous with ball in hand, Tim Bateman on the wing carried well.

Up front Matt Cherry scrummed and carried well, Ari Baghdouyan played really well but George Dady for an outstanding all round performance was named Wisbech Round Table man of the match.

Speaking after, team manager Iwan Jones said: “I am happy for the boys, they went out there and they put our game on the park.

“It is an overwhelming under-17 side. They rode out some periods where we were under some heavy momentum from a determined West Norfolk side.

“We held them out and then obviously we took our chances when they came up.

“I’m really happy for the boys, they were really strong today, but as a squad we recognise there are a number of areas we need to work on.”

Wisbech scorers – tries: Dady (3); Simpson; Little. Conversions: Howat (x3).
