Runners feature in final Spring Marathon

On Sunday, the final Spring Marathon of the year took place at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival.

Fenland Runners had Mel Trayford and Jay Gilbert making the trip to Scotland to run the marathon, while Sharon Bird competed in the half-marathon.

In a field of 7,160 in the marathon, Trayford finished 601st and Gilbert 3,479th in times of 3.22.40 and 4.11.13 respectively.

With 8,772 runners in the half-marathon, Bird finished 6,943rd by recording a time of 2.21.18.

The previous Sunday, Dave Hood took part in the BUPA London 10k and finished 2,992nd in a time of 50.20.

Richard Hammond and Gill Holmes were also in action for Fenland Running Club at the Deeping 10k in a field of 242 runners.

Hammond finished 28th in a time of 39.22, while Holmes was 230th in a time of 1.05.12.
