March runners in Grand Prix series action




March Athletics Club members raced on Wednesday night at the second event in the Peterborough Grand Prix series.

The 5k took place in Ferry Meadows on a warm evening and the club had plenty of runners in attendance in the seniors race alongside four juniors in the 3k.

First home for the juniors was Matthew Cumbridge in 11:04. Rowan Whittlesey was second through the finish funnel in 11:41 with Liberty and Austin Sibthorp following in 11:42 and 11:43. Liberty's strong performance saw her win her age category.

Andrew Jakeman led the way for the adults and finished second place overall in 15:43. Luke Cumbridge was second back for the blue and white army as the young star claimed second in his age grade. Steven Beasley, Mark Godfrey and Serge Lambert were next over the line, all securing sub-19 minute times.

Kanina O'Neil was first lady for March in 19:12 followed by Michelle Prior, who crossed the line in just over 20 minutes. Tina Lambert, Tricia Cole and Victoria May rounded up the top few spots for the March ladies.
