Luke Brown first March Athletic Club runner home at annual Cambridge half marathon around King’s College, St John’s College, Grantchester and Midsummer Common
March Athletic Club runners were out in force at the annual Cambridge half marathon, with 21 members taking part on a beautiful Sunday morning.
The course is a relatively flat and scenic course, taking in the city centre, the iconic King’s College and St John’s College before heading out into the countryside to the village of Grantchester and back through the city centre, to finish at Midsummer Common.
A perfect personal best (PB) course and several of the team achieved some great times.
First March man home was Luke Brown in 1:18:41 and first March lady home was Hannah Daniel in 1:48:51.
Elsewhere Gaelle Bryant took on Thetford Forest Trail half marathon and completed the course in 2:13:03.
Jason Mottram took on a different kind of running challenge in Yorkshire in the “Race the Train” race; a 14-mile route in the Yorkshire Dales from Leyburn railway station, where runners have to beat the train back to the finish.
Last weekend saw March AC runner Toni Alcaraz compete in the inter county 20-miler, the Essex 20, representing Cambs in the ladies’ team. Toni completed the course in 2:16:10, an impressive 20-minute PB.
