Lee Johnson sticks to Leverington Three Counties Running Club training plan in Stamford Valentines 30k
The weather behaved this weekend which allowed Three Counties Running Club members to take part in the rescheduled Stamford 30k and Thetford Trails 10k which were all called off due to Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis.
Seven club members took part in the Stamford Valentines 30k (18.6miles) race.
Most of the members were using this as a marathon training run and with the hills and the wind the race felt like a marathon.
Lee Johnson was the first club member home and he made sure he stuck to his training plan and didn’t get carried away with racing.
Lee finished in a great time of 2:23:44. Michelle Brown was next to finish in a fantastic PB time of 2:34:28 knocking a massive 10 minutes off last year's time.
Johnny Beesley was next to finish his longest run so far in a great PB of 2:37:00, Amy Baxter in a fantastic PB of 2:47:29, Zoe Gourley also with her longest run and a great PB of 3:04:44, Matt Hunter knocking 25 minutes off last year finishing in a fantastic PB of 3:10:14 and Sarah Clark with a great run of 3:31:36.
It was the final race in the Thetford Trails 10k winter series, which consists of three events around Thetford Forest.
The course was very muddy, slippery, wet and windy but all eight members had a fantastic run. First home for the club was Jonny Clark in a great time of 47:08 followed by Chris Rudd in his first race for the club with a fantastic PB of 56:07, Sarah Melton-Whitelam 58:29, Jodie Clark and Cheryl Lenton crossed the line together, TCRC style in a great time of 1:00:22, Steve Whitelam ran a fantastic PB of 1:01:01, Tony Lamb 1:04:22 and Sarah Lamb in 1:06:38.
The Peterborough Winter 10k held at Ferry Meadows was also a very wet, muddy and windy race but it didn’t stop club runners Alice Ingman and Rachael Brittain running a fantastic race together. This was Rachael’s 2nd 10k so Alice was a great support. Both ladies crossed the line together in a great time of 1:14:16.
Junior Parkrun has had to miss the last 2 weeks due to poor weather so 25 Juniors were chomping at the bit to get running.
First Junior member home for the club was Ronnie Watts 10:30, Isaac Western 10:38, Daniel Beitans 11:35, Annika Beitane 13:56, Tobie Watts 15:29 and Stephanie Harbord 16:27.
