Wisbech St Mary signing from March Flo Tsaguim nets in Thurlow Nunn League loss at Norwich CBS
Thurlow Nunn League First Division North: Norwich CBS 3 Wisbech St Mary 1
Recent signing from neighbours March, Flo Tsaguim, was the goalscorer as Wisbech St Mary put in a determined performance but lost 3-1 at third place Norwich CBS.
Saints manager Alex Kaufman said after the match at The FDC stadium: “If we’d have played CBS six weeks ago it could have been an eight or nine-nil game, so we’re more competitive right until the end of games.
“I’m quite happy with the lads. In the first 25 minutes we went 3-0 down, we were slow to start the game. We didn’t pick up players at set-pieces where two of their goals came from.
“One of their goals came when we lost the ball right up the pitch and they sent a ball direct between our back four and it was a quick finish.
“After that we were on top for the final ten minutes of the first half and Flo scored; a really good finish. He had a really good game. In the second half we were at it and could have scored three or four.
“We had them penned in. They had a few half-chances, we were on top and I think a draw would have been a fair result.
“Corey Kingston had a pre-arranged family event booked before we signed him. He was a big loss up top. If we’d have had him up there we may have finished a couple more chances.
“The ball sticks to him; he’s got experience, is quick, a threat in the box and an out-and-out number nine.”
On Saturday Wisbech St Mary are home to Haverhill Borough who are two places and five points above the Saints (Haverhill are in 18th position).
A slight doubt will be Stuart Beckett who missed the game via injury.
Kaufman added: “We’ve got Ipswich Wanderers after that and six games against sides from around us like Framlingham and King’s Lynn Res. We want to get good competitive performances like last week.”
