Defeats for Wisbech, Parson Drove and Wisbech St Mary, while March match abandoned
It was a bad day today for our senior football teams, with three heavy defeats and one match abandoned after a spectator fell ill.
Wisbech Town lost in the league, there were defeats for Parson Drove and Wisbech St Mary in the FA Vase, while in the same competition, March Town's match was called off.
Wisbech were defeated 4-1 at home to Shepshed Dynamo in the Pitching In Northern Premier League, the visitors also missing a twice-taken penalty. Toby Allen's fourth goal of the season came in the second half, when Brett Whaley's men were 2-0 down.
Step 6 Parson Drove crashed out of the Vase 6-1 at Step 5 side Godmanchester Rovers. Drove trailed 1-0 at the break, and pulled level early in the second half before the floodgates opened.
Wisbech St Mary also crashed out of the FA Vase, losing 6-0 at home to fellow Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League North outfit Great Yarmouth Town, all the Bloaters' efforts being scored with left foot efforts.
March Town's game in the Vase at fellow Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League Premier Division team Walsham Le Willows was abandoned in the first half after a Hares fan collapsed and was rushed to Bury St Edmunds hospital.
The game has been rescheduled for Tuesday evening.
