Great away win for March but Wisbech and Saints defeated




After this week's management merry-go-round, there were contrasting fortunes for two of the main men involved.

Arran Duke's reign at March Town got off to a winning start with a 4-2 victory at Needham Market Reserves, but former Hares boss Brett Whaley saw his Wisbech Town side go down 1-0 at home to promotion chasing Carlton Town.

Wisbech St Mary were thrashed 7-2 at AFC Sudbury Reserves.

March are still three points off the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League division one north promotion places after today's victory, with two goals from Craig Gillies, who now has 25 for the season. Dylan Edge and man of the match Danny Emmington also scored.

Wisbech remain bottom of the BetVictor Northern Premier League south east division after conceding a 68th minute goal to a Carlton side that played the last 35 minutes with ten men after a sending off.

And Alex Kaufman's Wisbech St Mary side are rock bottom too after defeat in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League division one north. Saints conceded in the 15th and 31st minutes but pulled it back to 2-2 with goals in the 33rd minute from Jordan Goult and the 37th by Corey Kingston, who now has nine goals in 13 games.

However, they conceded again two minutes before the break, let in a further two when Jake Miller was sin binned for 10 minutes and went on to let in two more.
