Outwell make it two wins from two with victory over Chatteris




Newly-promoted Outwell Swifts made it two wins out of two as they defeated Chatteris Town 1-0 in the Cambridgeshire County League Kershaw Junior 1B this afternoon.

Chris Gunkel was the Swifts marksmen but the Lilies have now lost both their games after dropping down from the Kershaw Premier.

In Kershaw Senior A, March Town Reserves are joint top with three wins from three after winning 2-1 at Hundon, Scott Beetlestone and Luke Pepper getting the goals.

In Senior B, Wisbech St Mary Reserves picked up their first point of the season with a thrilling 4-4 draw at Sawston Rovers, Ed Sakovich netting a hat-trick and Harry Wagner scoring the other.

March Town's A team are also on top of their division after winning 6-0 at Wisbech St Mary A in Kershaw Junior 2B, Kyle Liddy netting twice, with goals also coming from Nick Streets, Adam Mills, Finley Clark and Ryan Roberts. And promoted Guyhirn sit in second place after a 3-0 win at Wimblington, Kieran Bates and Lewis Greening among the scorers.

In the same division, James Harness netted a hat-trick as Benwick Athletic won their first game of the season with a 5-1 beating of Chatteris Town Reserves, Gregory Hoffman and Dillon Stevens getting the others, with Archie Palmer scoring for the Lilies. And there was a first win of the season for relegated Wisbech Acorns, who beat Fordham Reserves 3-1. Krzysztof Masiarz got two for Acorns and Mario Santos was also on the mark.

In 3C, Christchurch Magpies kicked off their season with a 3-1 victory over Doddington United. Josh Kirby, Liam Brady and Dale Richardson netted for Magpies and Tan Ibrahim scored for United. Manea United are bottom of the same division, however, with two defeats from two after losing at Little Downham & Pymoor Swifts Reserves 3-1, Oliver Johnson on target. March Academy were defeated 3-1 at home to Needingworth.

Fen Tigers Engineers kicked off their season with a 6-1 victory at Benwick Athletic Reserves in Kershaw Junior 4C, Lee Ransome and Will Terry notching two apiece and Robbie Ryan and George Terry also scoring.

In the same division, Chatteris A were beaten 3-1 at home to March Academy Reserves, with Matthew Bruce scoring twice for the Academy and sub Theo Hylton also on target. Another sub, Steven Chapman, scored for the Lilies. Outwell Swifts Reserves were 4-0 winners at Doddington United Reserves, Connor Brazil, Harry Trask, Lewie Rawson and Bozza Bowman on target.

Manea United Reserves are bottom of the table after an 8-0 home thrashing against Hartford Rangers.

In the Premier Division of the Peterborough League, Parson Drove move up into third place after beating Peterborough North End Sports 2-0 at Main Road, Jamie Stevens giving them a 20th minute lead and Reagan Brown getting the second five minutes before the break.

Leverington Sports got their first point of the season after a 2-2 home draw with Ketton, Jordan Webb and Harley Hollis on target. Meanwhile, Matt Eaton was on target four times as Long Sutton thrashed bottom of the table Oakham United 9-0 on their own patch. Other scorers were Brendan Burton, Sam Cooper, Callum Madigan, Chris Ward and Sam Lilley.

In Division One, Tydd are bottom with three defeats out of three after going down 4-1 at Eunice Huntingdon, while in Division Two, Parson Drove Reserves lost 4-1 at Netherton Reserves and Long Sutton Reserves lost 3-1 at home to Farcet United, Jake Lalley scoring for the Magpies.

Tydd Reserves were on the wrong end of a seven-goal thriller at home to Huntingdon Rovers, going down 4-3 in Division Three, while Leverington Sports Reserves were heavily beaten 5-0 at Cardea Reserves.

Long Sutton Athletic A lost 3-0 at table topping Sawtry in Division Four, while in Division Five, two of the promotion favourites met, as Sutton Bridge drew 2-2 at Langtoft United, Joseph Sutton and Matthew Wayman netting for the visitors.
