Scott double makes up for penalty miss as Sutton Bridge extend their lead




Sutton Bridge United stretched their lead at the top of Peterborough League's Division Five to five points with a thrilling home win against Deeping United Reserves this afternoon.

Kurt Scott missed a penalty for United at 1-1 and Deeping were 2-1 up after 58 minutes but a late Scott double in the 87th and 89th minute sealed victory and made it 18 in just 10 games for him this season.

Joseph Sutton scored Sutton's other goal with his 11th so far.

In the Premier Division, Leverington Sports lost 2-0 at home to Stilton United, whereas in Division Two Wisbech Town Reserves move up to second place with a 3-0 home win over Orton Rangers, with substitute Joe Reed (2) and Craig Bradshaw the scorers.

Leverington Sports Reserves went down 4-0 at Division Three table toppers Stanground Sports.

In the Cambridgeshire County League Kershaw Senior A there was no winning return for club captain Max Mattless as March Town Reserves went down 3-0 to fellow promotion contenders Orwell.

In Kershaw 1B, Outwell Swifts are now level on points at the top with AFC Walpole, who did not have a game. Former Parson Drove and Wisbech Town Reserves striker Kieran Hamilton netted a debut hat-trick for Swifts, with other goals coming from Jack Brand and Chris Gunkel.

Chatteris Town remain second from bottom after a 6-1 thrashing at Hemingfords United Reserves, where Harry Matthews was sent off.

March Town United A stay top of Kershaw 2B after a 3-3 draw at Wimblington. The Hares had a player red carded after 25 minutes but a Rory Wheeler strike on the stroke of half time put them 1-0 up. Wimblington equalised but an own goal saw March go 2-1 up, before a fantastic strike from Adam Mills – his 10th of the season – made it 3-1.

However, the extra man told for Wimblington as they battled to pull one back and then equalised with just five minutes remaining. Matt Eggleton, Jake Stacey and Nick Ward with his fifth of the season scored for Wimblington.

Benwick Athletic are up to third after a 3-2 win at Exning United, James Harness (2) and Matt Grainger on target. Harness now has 11 for the season.

In the same division, Guyhirn got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory at struggling Fordham Reserves, but Chatteris Town Reserves stay bottom after a 3-0 home defeat against Burwell Tigers. Wisbech Town Acorns lost 1-0 at home to Soham United Youths Men's.

In Kershaw 3C, AFC Christchurch Magpies are up to second after a 3-0 win over Manea United, who are now fourth. Liam Brady, Dale Richardson and Joshua Ingram scored for Magpies.

March Academy beat Bluntisham Rangers Reserves 4-3, with goals from Luke Cable (2), Adam Conyard and Ben Watson, while Doddington United are now bottom of the table after a 7-1 beating at Witchford 96 Reserves.

In Kershaw 4C Benwick Athletic Reserves beat March Academy Reserves 3-2, with goals from Daniel Blake and Jacob Gray (2), Doddington United Reserves were thrashed 13-0 at home to Hemingfords United A and Guyhirn Reserves lost 2-1 at home to leaders Hartford Rangers.

In the North West Norfolk League Division One, second placed Marshland Saints won 12-0 at Gayton United A. In Division Two, Upwell Town are third after losing lost 5-3 at home to leaders Watlington Sports & Social Club.

In Division Three, Marshland Saints Reserves lost 1-0 at West Winch William Burt Reserves.
