Scott hat-trick as Sutton Bridge fight back for three points
Sutton Bridge haven't always found it easy this season in Division Three of the Peterborough League and seemed to be heading for another defeat when 2-0 down in the first half against second from bottom Hampton Reserves on Saturday.
Goals from Cain Roberts and Jordan Rumble saw the visitors shaping up for only their third win of the season. However, Bridge got one back before the break and went on to win 4-2, Kurt Scott netting a hat-trick and Matt Eaton also scoring.
In the Premier Division, Tydd remain six points clear of the drop zone despite a 3-0 defeat at leaders FC Peterborough, while in Division One Long Sutton Athletic stay three points from safety after losing 3-1 at leaders Stanground Sports.
Tydd Reserves are still bottom of Division Two and five points from safety but pushed second-placed Glinton & Northborough all the way, leading 2-1 with five minutes remaining but ultimately losing 3-2. Dan Cassidy and Ricky Holstead scored for Tydd.
In the Peterborough League Cup, Long Sutton Athletic Reserves, of Division Two, were beaten 6-2 at home by Division One strugglers Peterborough Polonia. Wisbech Town Reserves, of Division One, were knocked out of the Peterborough Challenge Cup after a 3-2 home defeat against Division Two outfit FC Hampton.
Wisbech St Mary are through to the next round of the Cambs County Premier League Cup after a 3-2 home win over Newmarket Town Reserves. The Jockeys took a 20th minute lead, but Karl Tansley equalised for Saints on 31 minutes and it stayed that way at half time.
The visitors went 2-1 up after 53 minutes but back came St Mary through a Nick Castalan penalty four minutes later, with a spot kick eight minutes after that by sub Michael Chow putting them through to the semi-finals, where they are joined by Cambridge University Press, West Wratting and Great Shelford.
March Town Reserves remain bottom of the Premier Division and five points from safety after a 2-1 home defeat to third placed Foxton.
Unbeaten AFC Emneth extend their lead at the top of Senior A to 10 points after a hard-fought 2-0 home win against fifth-placed Isleham United. The Honey Badgers took the lead after a foul on Josh Williams saw a penalty awarded. The keeper saved the spot kick from Joe Reed and the rebound from Chris Gunkel, only for Reed to finally slam home.
The second came when some brilliant work by sub Jamie Leet led to Toby Allen rolling in his 28th of the season in just 16 games.
In Senior B, March Town A remain in fourth place after a disappointing 1-1 home draw with Linton Granta Reserves. After dominating the early stages, the Hares conceded against the run of play, but Josh Bryant equalised before the break and Aaron Ruscue rattled the bar from 20 yards out.
In an all-Senior B clash, Chatteris Town are through to the semi-final of the Percy Oldham Memorial Cup after beating Burwell 1-0. Sam Bond set up Martin Saunders to roll in the winner. The Lilies will travel to play St Ives Town Reserves on March 3, with the winners playing whoever is victorious from the clash between Melbourn and Hardwick or Histon Reserves.
Wimblington take top spot in 1B after a 2-0 win at Buckden, who started the day in second place. Ben Matthews in the first half and Nick Ward late on were on target for the visitors, who have now won five on the bounce.
In the same division, Benwick Athletic lost a nine-goal thriller 5-4 at Exning United, Dayne Moore netting twice for the visitors and Jason Harrison and sub Jacob Gray also on target. Chatteris Town Reserves drew 1-1 at Huntingdon United Reserves in 2B.
Outwell Swifts were back to winning ways in 3B, with an impressive 4-1 victory at Fenstanton Reserves, Adan-Jay Lewis netting twice to make it 20 for the season in 15 games, and Ashley Goodale and Dylan Pevreall also on the scoresheet.
Guyhirn beat Hartford Rangers Reserves 4-1 in 4B, Chatteris Town A are still without a win after a 6-0 defeat at Littleport Town Reserves and Manea United Reserves are second bottom after losing 4-0 at home to Soham United Youths Mens.
March Academy Adults won 3-2 at Stretham Reserves, where Jack Hayes and Callum Kirby were on target, while Upwell Town were well beaten 5-1 at home against Willingham Wolves, sub Jake Crane scoring for Town.
In the Cambridgeshire Lower Junior Cup, high-flying Beach were unable to raise a team to play Doddington Three Lions, who go through to the semi-finals.
