Two for Searle as Chatteris Ladies ease past Glinton
Chatteris Ladies made the journey to Glinton on Sunday knowing they were in for a tough test, after a narrow 5-4 victory recently in the home fixture.
On a poor surface, Glinton started the stronger team, putting Chatteris on the back foot as they overloaded the Lilies’ defensive third.
Chatteris spent the first 10-15 minutes defending strongly and restricted Glinton to just a couple of shots on goal.
Glinton tried to use the long ball over the top which created a good chance that went just wide of the post.
This seemed to wake Chatteris up and they started to get a foothold in the game and control the midfield and create chances of their own.
A great strike from a wide position from Emma Searle flew over the Glinton keeper and into the top corner to give Chatteris a 1-0 half time lead.
They did create further chances before the break, forcing some good saves from the home goalkeeper.
Chatteris came out strong for the second half, dominating the midfield area and playing some great passing football. A second strike from Emma Searle was quickly followed by an Emma Frost effort calmly slotted into the goal to take the Lilies 3-0 up.
They then dropped off, inviting Glinton on to them but the defence and keeper dealt comfortably with the home team’s efforts to try to salvage something from the game.
Next week sees the ladies take on Cambourne at West Street, 2pm kick-off.
