Manea driver inches away from first victory in BriSCA F1 stock cars

It really was a case of so near, yet so far for F2 stock car world champion Dave Polley when he came within 50 yards of claiming his first victory in BriSCA F1 stock cars at King’s Lynn on Saturday.

Mechanical problems saw Polley retire from his heat early on and this saw him have to try and qualify for the final through the consolation.

He was a man on a mission in this race as he made good use of the bumper to move the opposition out of the way and by the fifth lap he had worked his way to the lead from the very back of the grid.

As the race drew to a conclusion the Fenland driver was being caught by superstar graded driver Matt Newson and come the final bend Newson found himself within striking range and he launched himself into Polley’s car which saw the car go into the fence backwards and as he did so he took Newson with him.

Polley was unable to get his car over the line and he also made sure that Newson failed to qualify for the final by wedging him against the fence.

It also sent a clear message to other drivers in the world of BriSCA F1 that if you try and mess with Polley it’s not going to end well for them.

Despite some frantic repair work in the pits, the Manea driver failed to get his car repaired and in shape for the end of night Grand National.

He is likely to miss around a month of racing with engine damage.

Reece Cox made his 2023 debut in the F2 stock cars in a brand new car but had something of a low key meeting by his own high standards qualifying for the final with a seventh place finish in the consolation being his only finish of the night.

There is no stock car racing at King’s Lynn this weekend.

The next meeting is due to take place on May Day Monday and is set to feature the 1500cc bangers, two-litre bangers, two-litre stock cars and Reliant Robins.
