Wisbech Inline Speed Skating's Flynn McGurk makes Great Britain debut and Arthur Buckler bags six European Cup Championships wins
Four members of Wisbech Inline Speed Skating went for their annual trip to the Flanders Grand Prix in Belgium for the European Cup Championships.
The event had more than 460 competitors from all over the world, with Flynn McGurk representing Great Britain in Team GB for the first time.
Ten year-old British champion Arthur Buckler made it six out of six wins at the European track ahead of his closest rival from India who was hot on his heels every race. Arthur showed a cool head to take the title in the Pupil Boys category.
Flynn made his debut for Team GB in the Youth Boys category. The competition was tough, as was the weather with strong winds and rain showers all weekend, but he held his nerve and gained a new overall personal best finish which saw him improve by six places over last year's standings.
He took part in four races on the oval banked track and then the 30km road race.
The boys were joined by twin sisters Eve and Lucy McInerney. Eve took home a new PB time in the 1,000m sprint races by 11 seconds.
The previous weekend saw Arthur take a new PB time of 12.725 seconds in his 100m time trial held at Castle Combe in the Roller Road Series and holds first place in the championship in the Pupil Boys category after taking home maximum points so far.
Warren Eve joined Arthur at the track and completed the marathon of 26 miles in a respectable time of 1hr25mins with a strong display, finishing in second place among far more experienced skaters.
The team now have a few weeks off from racing as they prepare for two Marathon events to close the year.
