Wisbech St Mary’s struggles continue with league defeat at bottom club Milton




Wisbech St Mary suffered a hammer blow in their battle for Cambs Kershaw Premier Division survival.

They suffered a 3-0 defeat at bottom club Milton who are now just a point behind the Saints, who do have a couple of games in hand over the basement side.

The Saints sit 12th in the standings with 12 points from their 16 games.

March Town Reserves' five-game winning run in Senior A was ended by a strengthened West Wratting Reserves outfit who ran out 4-2 winners against the Hares.

After falling behind to a goal from prolific first-team striker Callum Harrison, March quickly replied on the counter with Josh Bryant finishing a cross from Liam Monaghan.

The hosts took a 3-1 lead into the break before Monaghan blasted home from close range to make it 3-2.

Youngster Jesse Cowles came close to equalising for the visitors but it was Wratting who had the final say after adding a fourth goal six minutes from time.

Hares boss Kieran Daplyn said: "We are a little bit unlucky today we played a Wratting side with a few first-teamers and it showed

"The football they played was on another level and Callum Harrison was outstanding along with a few others.

"I've not seen a team do that to us and the high quality of football shown was outstanding

"We were missing top scorer Conor Bancans and Casey Logan but we still competed all game."

March Town A had Carlos Mendes on target in their 1B clash at Huntingdon United, who eventually ran out 6-1 winners, while Chatteris Town Reserves suffered a 2-0 home defeat to The Eagle.

Wisbech St Mary Res cruised to a 4-0 victory over Papworth in 2B while Harry Fox and Matthew Kent found the back of the net for Manea United who humbled league leaders Littleport Town with a 2-1 win.

A George Rayner goal was enough to see Mepal and Sutton share the points in a 1-1 draw at Isleham United Reserves in 3B.

AEK United and Wisbech St Mary B both progressed in the Reg Haigh and Arthur Peg Cup.

The 4C leaders AEK thrashed Longstanton Reserves 4-1 while Wisbech St Mary B triumphed 2-1 against Wimblington Reserves who replied with a goal from Ryan Ducker.

In 4C league action, Outwell Swifts Reserves lost 5-2 at third-placed Stretham Reserves and Manea United Reserves were thumped 13-1 at Needingworth United Reserves.

Leverington Sports shared four goals with Deeping Reserves in the GCE Hire Fleet Peterborough & District Football League Premier Division.

Adam Conyard and Swaley Stokes registered for Sports who remain in a relegation dogfight towards the bottom.

Chatteris Town were unable to field a team for their clash with FC Peterborough Reserves.

Division One strugglers Wisbech Town Reserves had Harry Ashby on target in a 5-1 home defeat to Peterborough Rangers.

In the Spalding Interservices Cup, Long Sutton Athletic served up a seven-goal thriller with South Lincolnshire Swifts.

A Jamal Nyang brace and other efforts from Jordan Nyang and Martin Ward saw the home side through in a classic cup clash at the London Road Playing Field.

Tydd Reserves and Sutton Bridge United repeated the feat in the other Spalding Interservices Cup clash with Tydd securing a 4-3 success.

Daniel Cassidy (2), Samuel Bedwell-Byatt and Finlay Rudge were on the scoresheet for Tydd with Ryan Brothwell, Alex Clements-Limb and Mark Garner replying for Sutton Bridge.

In Division Two, Leverington Sports Reserves came from behind three times at Park Farm Pumas Reserves to grab a point.

Goals from Sam Fabela, Harley Rust, a Kai Mackie penalty and an 89th-minute equaliser from super-sub Cameron ‘Big Tone’ Hughes saw them secure a draw in an entertaining 4-4 draw.

Shane Knight scored twice but it couldn't prevent basement side Leverington Sports A from slipping to a 3-2 reverse at Uppingham Town Reserves in Division Three.

In Division Three North of the Anglian Combination, Marshland Saints were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Wells Town Reserves.
