Stunning flip from Sonny Wright lights up stock car racing at King's Lynn
Local drivers were heavily involved at an action-packed night of racing on Saturday.
Veteran 1300 stock car racer John Moat took a race victory in his third heat, following it up with an eight-place finish in the final.
His son Dean was also going strong, storming to fourth in his final.
Sonny Wright had been looking to follow up a runner-up finish from his last race final, but crashed out spectacularly on the opening lap - rolling over twice and ending up with Luke Needs' car on top of his own.
Canterbury’s Jacob Bromley won the meeting final.
The Junior Bangers were thrilling, with Rhys Parring taking advantage of a downgrading to yellow to take a convincing victory in the opening heat.
It looked like sister Katelyn was going to double up for the Parrin team in the second heat as she was battling for the lead for the majority of the race, but ended up being spun out in the closing stages.
That left Levi Murkin trying to uphold local honours, and he came close to taking the flag when he went in with a big hit on Rhys Barrow on the final bend and only failed to get past by a matter of inches.
Jade Ellis also qualified for the final with a tenth place finish in the consolation.
After a near miss in her heat, Katelyn Parrin made no mistake in the hectic 35-car All Comers race to take a fantastic win - with Murkin coming home in eighth.
Racing returns to King’s Lynn this Friday (5pm) with racing coming from the Big Van Bangers, Micro Bangers, F2 Stock Cars and 1300 Stock Cars.
Drivers in action will include Brad Bartrum, father and son duo Russell and Callum Gill, and brothers Jack and James Licquorice.
Tom Alsop will race from a career first red 'star grade'.
