March Athletics Club impress at 2022 Round Norfolk Relay

March Athletic Club gave themselves a target of under 24 hours to complete the Round Norfolk Relay.

Fifty-three teams competed in the event, which sees teams of 17 athletes running the boundary of Norfolk.

The March AC B Team had an early start on Saturday morning with their first runner setting off in the dark at 5:30am, whilst the A Team - who had a quicker overall predicted time - were given a start time of 9am.

Luke Cumbridge, a member of the junior section, made his debut, running leg three from Burnham Over to Wells-Next-the-Sea. Luke was the fastest runner across all the teams for this stage, finishing in a time of 36 minutes and 42 seconds.

For the A Team it was all about getting round in under 24 hours. Their predicted time was 24 hours 15 minutes so they knew it would be a tall order, but after 23 hours 26 minutes and 39 seconds of continuous running by the team, Niall Jackson - the anchor man - crossed the line to the claps and cheers of his fellow runners and support crews.
