Wisbech Town lose to Ramsey in Cambs & Hunts League while March Town are defeated by Newmarket




Cambs & Hunts League leaders Wisbech Town surprisingly lost to fifth-placed visitors Ramsey by 38 runs after collapsing on Saturday.

Ramsey posted 248-6 when their 50 overs closed. Kieran Haynes grabbed 1-38, George Gowler 3-50, Gary Freear 1-48 and overseas player Ryan Clark 1-35.

Wisbech crashed to 210 all out, with nearly five overs unused.

Freear departed for a duck, but fellow opener Danny Haynes was stumped for 83 from 105 balls and, next in, skipper James Williams 61 off 86 – both hit seven fours – and Sam Albutt 10 to give them hope.

However, they collapsed from 148-1 as the bottom order failed.

Wisbech Town are 40 points ahead of second-placed Foxton, who have a game in hand, in Whiting & Partners Division 1.

Meanwhile, second-from-bottom Division 3 side Wisbech 2nds lost by six wickets at Huntingdon & District.

Wisbech reached 173 from 35.2 overs. Skipper Dom Stannard hit 14, other opener and keeper Thomas Hoyle 26, Jamie Gollands 43, Anthony Palmer 11, Simon Freear 15 and Brodie Ellis 15.

Huntingdon raced to 177-4 in just 25.4 overs. Ellis grabbed 1-25, Palmer 1-30, Gollands 1-30 and Rhys Howell 1-17.

Relegation-facing Wisbech 3rds went down to a 127-run defeat by away side Chippenham in CCA Junior League 2 North.

Leaders Chippenham posted 274-7 in 40 overs.

Wisbech fell to 147 all out from 34.4 overs, with no details available from the fixture.

Wisbech 4ths lost their CCA Junior League 5 North top-two promotion clash by 150 runs at Telugu Association of Cambridge 3rds, who are now 28 points ahead of the visitors.

Telugu set a challenging 277-4 in 40 overs, with opener Santosh Kunadi hammering 116.

Wisbech slid to 127 all out from 33 overs. No details were available for the away side.

March 3rds lost at Bluntisham by seven wickets in CCA Junior League 3 North.

March posted 160 all out from 39.5 overs. Opener and captain Adrian Bussey compiled 14, Charles Pooley 44 and Ed Albutt 30, having little answer to George Davies - who took 6-17.

Bluntisham 2nds cruised to 164-3 in 23.3 overs. Sam Mason returned 1- 21 and Theo Liversedge 2-38.

March are now two points ahead of basement side Longstanton.

March 2nds triumphed at Needingworth, who replace them at the foot of the table, by 100 runs in CCA Senior League Division 1.

March posted 180-7 in 45 overs. Needingworth were skittled for 80 in the 26th over.

Eighth-place March Town lost at home to Newmarket - the team below them in the relegation slots - by 76 runs in Division 1 (pictured).

Newmarket were 247 all out in the penultimate over. Callum Young captured 9.2-0-47-6 including the final five wickets, Alex Millard 1-48, Samuel Clarke 1-42, Kian Pooley 1-52 and Udana Ranathunga 1-39.

March replied on 171 from 47.1 overs. Opener Millard struck 11, Brandon Phillips 11, Ranathunga 20, Ruwan Pitigala 55 with eight fours and a six, keeper Benjamin Pyle 16 and Young 14.

Pitigala rescued the hosts from 77-6.

Eighth-placed Abington beat seventh-spot Chatteris by three wickets in CCA Senior League Division 1.

Chatteris reached 132 in 41.2 overs.

Abington replied on 134-7 from 30.2 overs.

Promotion-chasing St Ives Town & Warboys 2nds beat Chatteris 2nds, who lie in fifth place, by 170 runs in CCA Junior League 2 North.

Kavinda Sooriyarathna notched 100 as St Ives Town & Warboys set a formidable 273-3in their 40 overs. Harley Edmonds took 2-36 and Ciaran Bailey 1-52.

Chatteris slid to 103 from 18.5 overs in reply. Opening bat Ciaran Bailey hit 20, Liam Boxall a quick-fire 43 from 30 balls, with 10 fours, and Alan Newman 10.

Fourth-placed Wimblington were edged out by five wickets with five balls to spare by Chippenham 2nds in CCA Junior League 4 North.

Numbers two to five thrived for Wimblington, who set a competitive 209-3 when 40 overs elapsed.

Leon Walker struck 36, Bailey King 35, Robert Kemp not out 68 and Connor Porter not out 50.

Chippenham reached 212-5 in the first ball of the final over. Walker bagged 3-20, Poppy Cole 1-44 and Adam Baker 1-30.
