Sutton put Magpies to flight
LSHC Men 3, Harleston Magpies 2nds 1
Both teams needed the spoils in this Prem B fixture on Saturday but it was Sutton who came out on top.
Sutton broke the deadlock as Sisson made some space for himself and finished well on his reverse stick. Magpies deservedly equalised soon after.
Sutton came into their own in the second half in a fantastic performance with every player working tirelessly for each other. Sisson and Esse were on target.
Cambridge Nomads 3, LSHC Mens’ Second 1
The 2nds travelled with a very young team to the best side in the division by far.
Sutton were 3-0 down at half-time; however they won the second half after Alex Canham clinically finished a sublime pass from strike partner Ben Shore.
LSHC Mens’ Third 0, Bourne Deeping 4ths 4
Long Sutton Men’s 3rds called on, and were grateful to receive, the last minute support of Ian White and his 4th team to provide players.
MoM: Calvin Bishop, worked hard in midfield.
LSHC Mens’ 4th 3, City of Peterborough 9ths 0
Sutton started brightly keeping possession especially through their experience midfield trio of Hales, Mallet and Sullivan.
They created numerous chances with short corners aplenty. Goals came from Hales just before half time, and Goodley two.
MoM: Kieran Forrest.
Alford 4, LSHC Ladies 2
This became a disappointing day for Long Sutton Ladies despite leading twice through Lisa Baker.
Alford & District fought hard and with a good game plan.
PoM: Lisa Baker for two tremendous goals, taking her season’s tally to 12.
Manager Martin Hudson said: “We have to move forward to next week’s home game against Cambs Uni - and only then can we put things right from today.”
Bedford 2nds 11, LSHC Mens’ 2nd 1
In this last 16 Plate game, Sutton played a Bedford side who were knocked out of the 2nd team cup by Spalding earlier in the season. It was soon clear that the hosts had improved immensely.
Mention must go to Harry Synott who stepped up from the 3rd team, worked hard, was deservedly man of the match and scored Sutton’s only goal.
