Long Sutton Hockey Club's men's 2nd team thrashed Cambs South 5s in the penultimate fixture before the festive break.

The away side started well, and Will White linked well with Batten and Hagen to create a few openings.

Watt, Canham, Ben Hales and Ed White all had opportunities, with the Cambs goalkeeper proving a tough nut to crack.

However, the breakthrough did come via the experienced Gary Hales, who finished well after good work from Ed White.

The same players then combined again to make it 2-0.

Canham converted from a Hagan cross to make it 3-0 before Watt unleashed the best finish of the day to stretch their advantage.

South battled hard but couldn't find a way around Fox, White and Baguley, and Hales claimed his hat-trick to make it 5-0 before half-time.

South started the second half well as they looked for a way back into the match, but Canham scored again before Hales squeezed home a disguised finish to make it 7-0 and round off the scoring.

Sutton welcome Cambs South 4s next week as they kick-start the second half of the season.

Elsewhere, Hales scored yet again as the men's 3s lost 3-1.
