Outwell Swifts and Leverington Sports Reserves through to final of North Cambs Junior Cup
Goals from Ross Beart, George Melton, Brandon Hedge and sub Aidan-Jay Lewis saw Outwell Swifts beat March Town A in the semi-final of the North Cambs Junior Cup on Saturday.
The Hares play in Cambs County League 1B, with Swifts in 2B, but it was the home side who opened the scoring when Beart got on the end of a great pass from man of the match Kain Ward.
Hedge set up Melton for the second and Beart turned provider for the third, Hedge netting his 22nd of the season. The visitors pulled one back with a deflection but Lewis then came off the bench to score the fourth and his 17th of the campaign with a classy finish.
In the other semi-final, Peterborough League Division Two side Leverington Sports Reserves beat Division Three promotion hopefuls Thorney 2-0, sub Adam Conyard coming off the bench to score two penalties in the 76th and 84th minute.
In the Premier Division of the Cambs County League Wisbech St Mary are third from bottom after a 4-0 defeat at West Wratting, but in Senior B a 2-0 win for Wimblington at Fenstanton puts them into second place, Billy Munns and Alexander Knowles with his 17th of the season scoring after the break.
Wimblington lead March Town Reserves on goal difference in the battle for promotion, with eight games left. The Hares won 5-0 at Sawston Rovers.
The away team dominated from start to finish with Harry Powley opening the scoring before Josh Bryant assisted Liam Brady who slotted the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
Good work from Powley set up James Rose to make it 3-0 before the break and a bullet header from Rose in the second half made it 4-0. Seb Goldspink added the fifth to round off a really good performance.
In 1B Benwick Athletic (Christchurch) won 4-3 at Alconbury, Joe Waters netting twice and subs Ross Alexander and Archie Cullum also on target. Chatteris Town Reserves drew 3-3 at Exning United, Jack Rudkin, Charlie Munns and Anesu Terera all on target.
Wisbech St Mary Reserves suffered only their second league defeat of the campaign in 2B, going down 5-3 at lowly Crusaders. Ryan McManus, Ricky Mason and Matas Sakavicius scored for Saints. Manea United also suffered defeat, 8-1 at Eaton Socon A, Jack Smith netting for United.
In 4B, Wisbech Town Acorns went down 6-0 at Hartford Rangers Reserves and in the local derby Manea United Reserves drew 1-1 with Chatteris Town A, Max Williamson scoring for Manea and Josh Peachey for the Lilies, whose man of the match was Callum Wilkinson.
March Academy enjoyed a 4-1 win at Stretham Reserves, with Jack Conyard netting twice to make it 12 for the season and Barry Brooks and Jacob Gray also on target.
And Wisbech St Mary A keep their title hopes alive with an 8-1 thrashing of Outwell Swifts Reserves. Josh Williams, Martin Wright (now 18 for the season) and Tom Chilton senior (now 15) all scored twice for Saints, with Pawel Kaluzny with his 20th of the season and Michael Chow also on target. Daniel Cook netted for Swifts.
Fifth place Leverington Sports stay right in the title mix of the Peterborough League Premier Division with a 2-0 win at Oundle Town, Jordan Webb and Dan Hempson scoring. In Division One, Chatteris Town drew 1-1 at Farcet United, Jordan Johnson scoring for the Lilies.
Long Sutton Athletic drew 2-2 at home to promotion-chasing Peterborough City in Division One, Martin Ward and Arron Pike scoring, but Wisbech Town Reserves lost their bottom three clash 8-2 at home to Peterborough Polonia, Joshua Putterill and Dylan Rust scoring for the Fenmen.
Sutton Bridge United won 3-0 at Crowland Town Reserves in Division Two, Jack Lally scoring twice and Mark Garner also on target, but Tydd Reserves lost 2-0 at home to Whittlesey Athletic Development.
Long Sutton Athletic Reserves lost 1-0 at Hampton Reserves in Division Three, while in Division Four, Stamford Reserves beat Leverington Sports A 6-0.
