Outwell Swifts stretch lead at top with win at previously unbeaten Stretham




Outwell Swifts stretch their lead at the top of Cambs County League’s 1B division to six points after a 2-1 win at previously unbeaten Stretham, skipper Callum Moles and Ryan Shinn scoring.

Wisbech St Mary were beaten 3-2 at home in their Premier Division clash with Comberton United on Saturday.

Jake Gadsden and Tom Lindsay were on target for The Saints, who had taken a first half lead before at one stage being 3-1 down.

In Senior A, second-place March Town Reserves prepared for next Saturday’s home game with leaders Orwell by beating visitors Bluntisham Rangers 3-1. Sixteen-year-old Olly Hill on his first senior start, new signing Tyler Kucukarslan and Adam Mills netted for The Hares, who were missing several players through injury.

Manager Kieran Daplyn said: “We had to work extremely hard but this group of players give everything. It’s just one defeat in our last ten league games now and we look forward to the top of the table clash with Orwell who are very good side and deserved league leaders.”

The leaders won 2-1 at home to Wimblington on Saturday, with Rory Parker scoring for the visitors.

March Town A lost 2-0 at home to Huntingdon United, while Chatteris Town Reserves triumphed 4-1 at Alconbury, Lewis Hawkins and Charlie Munns both scoring twice. Benwick Athletic (Christchurch) lost 2-1 at home to Needingworth United.

Wisbech St Mary Reserves drew 3-3 at Soham Town Rangers Development in 2B, while in 3B Wisbech St Mary Development A suffered only their second league defeat of the season when they went down 3-1 at Wilbrahams.

In 4C, AEK United stay top after a 1-0 win at Wimblington Reserves, while March Academy kept up their promotion hopes with a 6-0 thrashing of Wisbech Town Acorns, Terry Willmott scoring two and Harrison Deighton, Lee Roberts and Daniel Williams also scoring.

Manea United Reserves beat Chatteris Town A 5-1, with Luis Webb scoring for the visitors. Outwell Swifts Reserves were beaten 8-1 at home by Mepal and Sutton Reserves.

Chatteris Town and Leverington Sports shared the Peterborough League Premier Division derby spoils when they drew 1-1 on Saturday, Sam Bond netting for The Lilies and Kieran Hamilton on target for Sports.

Bottom side Long Sutton Athletic lost 3-1 at Warboys Town Reserves in Division One, sub Calvin Bird scoring for The Magpies, while in Division Two, Sutton Bridge United won 4-3 at Hampton United Reserves, Alex Clements-Limb netting twice, with Jordan Collison and Jack Thomas also on target.

Tydd went down 4-1 at Netherton United Reserves in Divison Three and Leverington Sports Reserves were beaten 4-1 at Stamford Lions . Long Sutton Athletic Reserves were beaten 4-2 at home by Sawtry Reserves, Simon Adcock and sub Jeremy Barron scoring for The Magpies.

Marshland Saints won 6-2 at Easton Reserves in Anglian Combination Division Three North, Eddie McGahren scoring three for Saints and Charlie Dungey, Dylan Rust and sub Callum Rogers also on target.

Marshland Saints Reserves are bottom of North West Norfolk League Division One despite a 3-1 win at Clenchwarton, Steven Cooke, Josh Barber and Thomas Slyfield scoring.
