Team Blue Army make a splash at the Grantham Summer Sprintastic and the East Regional Open Water Championships
It was a weekend to remember for March Marlins’ Team Blue Army as swimmers made waves both in the pool and open water at two high-profile events.
At the Grantham Summer Sprintastic, held at Grantham Meres Leisure Centre, Blue Army athletes put in a phenomenal effort despite sweltering conditions.
Their determination paid off in style, with the team securing 42 personal bests across the meet. Several swimmers also added a clutch of medals to their tallies, showcasing the depth of talent and spirit within the squad.
Meanwhile, five of Blue Army’s open water specialists took on the challenge of the East Regional Open Water Championships at Whitlingham Adventure in Norwich.
Weeks of dedicated training in lakes and rivers clearly paid dividends, as all five swimmers came home with well-earned county honours - and some with regional medals as well.
Archie McCluer was third in the county in the 3km while Jude Staton was second in the county and region over 2km.
Niamh O’Donoghue was first in the county and third in the region over 1km with Isla Staton second and Alfie McClure both second in their respective categories at county level.
The club congratulated all the swimmers for their grit, resilience and fantastic performances in and out of the pool. The Blue Army continues to show that with hard work and team spirit, anything is possible.
