March, Fenland and Three Counties tackle virtual Hereward Relay

Three local running clubs competed in a virtual version of the annual Hereward Relay on Sunday.

March Athletic Club has hosted the event on the last Sunday of November since 1998. The 39 mile relay race usually runs from Peterborough to Ely over four legs, crossing over bridleways, fields, bridges and tracks.

Usually, more than 100 invited teams take on the course, but this year just the Three Counties Running Club and Fenland Running Club joined March.

The hosts fielded 10 teams, with some completing the 39 miles in the traditional four legs, while other teams split the legs into six to eight smaller legs to allow more runners to join in.

Three Counties and Fenland fielded eight teams each.
