Fenland-based Three Counties take on cross-country race at Shouldham
It was a very frosty, cold morning, but Three Counties running club members still put on their trainers to race.
Ryston Runners, who host the Shouldham XC Series, had to unfortunately cancel the last race in December due to the high winds but the frost and cold weren’t going to put the dampeners on this race.
The cross-country series consists of a 5km, 4.5km, and 6.5km race and these distances are raced twice.
At the end of the series. You have to complete at least 1 of each of the distances to get a race memento.
The usual cross-country hazards —tree roots, trip hazards, hills, uneven ground underfoot—and the added frost and cold still didn’t stop the fun.
There were some fantastic results for all 14 TCRC club members.
Craig Freestone was first home for the club in the 5k race in a time of 20:16.
Other times: Phil Newton 21:48, James Stace 22:41 (PB), Sarah Johnson 23:06, Les Phillips 24:46 (third in age), Nick Sheehan 27:05, Tracey Else 28:03, Tracy Adams 28:07 (third in age), Matt Hunter 29:48, Diane Tyler 29:55 (PB), Sarah Melton 31:00, Zoe Gourley 31:01, Steve Whitelam 33:13 and Moira Macdonald 35:14.
Quite a few park runs were called off the weekend due to ice, but a few members still found some events that were happening.
King's Lynn: Alfie Grant 23:04, Jonny Clark 24:00, Jodie Clark 29:02, Matthew Knott 29:13, Melvin Green 30:04.
Manor Fields: Colin Apps 29:23.
