Fenland athletes participate in Outlaw 70.3 half triathlon at Holkham

Three Counties Running Club members tackled the Outlaw 70.3 half triathlon at Holkham last weekend.

Not for the faint-hearted, the outlaw 70.3 consists of 1.2 mile swim followed by a 56-mile cycle ride and if that wasn’t enough you finish off with a 13.1-mile run.

The day started off early, leaving around 4am but the weather was fairly kind being dry but windy in places.

The event is normally entered by individuals but there was also the opportunity to enter as a team.

The club's own Andi Woolley travelled back from Bahrain and took on the event as an individual.

Woolley had a fantastic event finishing in a total time with transitions of 5:30:44. The breakdown was swim 37:46, cycle 2:53:04 and run 1:52:20.

David Hammond also took part in the event as part of a relay team. Hammond was the swim leg of the team, completing his swim in a time of 34:14.

Other club members who took part were Shelley Coleman, Lorraine Parker and Samantha Pritchard. They completed the event as a team called The 3 Amigos.

The trio were raising money for the Arthur Rank Hospice as it was another very personal choice for the ladies who have all had relatives use the day centre.

The 3 Amigos had a great event with Shelley completing the swim in a time of 50.07, Lorraine, who got a little carried away and ended up cycling over 59 miles instead of 56 finishing in 3:45:23 and Samantha bringing the team to finish in a run time of 2:15:16.
