Park Ladies thump Ely 16-1 in Cambs Junior Invitational Cup
Park Ladies thumped Ely in the quarter-final of the Cambs Junior Invitational Cup.
The ladies hadn’t played for six weeks and it certainly showed with a rusty start.
However, they opened the scoring after eight minutes when a ball across from Fran Plitsch found Georgia Stimson to slot home.
Stimson returned the favour a few minutes later when a cross found Plitsch to prod home.
A third goal arrived when Teagan Pulman played a ball through to Georgia Payne and she made no mistake with the finish.
Park thought they had a fourth when an Imogen James effort hit the bar and dropped down, but it didn’t cross the line.
Another Pulman through ball found Plitsch, who picked her spot to make it 4-0. Amy Hunt then had an effort disallowed for offside.
The fifth did come a short while later, with Casey Ward sending Stimson clear to add her second of the afternoon.
Ely pulled one back when the ball was not cleared and a looping effort dropped into the Park goal.
Park responded as Pulman hit the bar with a 25-yard free kick, before a ball in from Ward allowed Hunt to finish - and just before half-time Stimson pulled the ball back to Eilish Brown to smash home for a 7-1 lead at the break.
It took a while for Park to break through again, but soon Plitsch found Hunt - who made it 8-1. Just a minute later, Hunt put Plitsch through to finish low past the keeper and complete her hat-trick.
Hunt was the second to score a hat-trick, adding her third and Park’s tenth after a good cross by Ward.
A lay-off from Stimson found Plitsch, who hit a scooped shot into the top corner. Three minutes later, Plitsch notched up her fifth of the afternoon aftershe pounced on a rebound.
Not to be outdone, Hunt ran into the area, drew out the keeper and then rounded her to finish and bring her total for the day to four.
Payne smashed in a half-volley, while Stimson became the third Park player to complete a hat-trick.
James then scored her first of the season to make it 16-1.
Georgia Payne was named player of the match for an excellent performance and providing a constant threat.
