Dan Tickner leads the way for Fenland Running Club members at the annual Eye 10k

Five Fenland Running Club members took on the Eye 10k on Sunday.

Taking in beautiful views of the open Fenland countryside and winding runs, it’s a lovely run despite the increasing heat.

Dan Tickner led the way with a time of 40min27sec to finish 21st out of 335.

Nigel Marlow (118th, 51.03), Andrew Mallett (281st, 1:10.47), Zoe Thornton (283rd, 1:10.51) and Cleo Stewart-Thomas (310th, 1:15.06) also took part.

At the aptly-named Sunny Hunny Triathlon, two members competed in a 200m swim, 18k bike ride and 3.5k run. Describing conditions as perfect, Richard Agger set a course pb of 59.11 to finish 25th out of 114. Taking part in her first triathlon, Barbara Welbourn timed 1:31.11.

The Breckland 10k is the third race in the Sportslink 10k Series, a series of established 10k races across Norfolk. They take your best results from seven of the nine events and it’s all about your age grade position in the results.

On a course described as undulating, Malcolm Tuff, having already won the first race in the series, kept up the pressure on his rivals by finishing first again in the 60-64 category out of 26 and sixth overall out of 304 in a time of 38.04.

Andrew Mallet ran a 10k pb of 52.29, coming 19th in age category and 171st overall.
