Ton-scoring into gear in March Friday darts league

It would be fair to say that after four weeks of this year’s March Friday Night Summer Darts League, the ton scoring has really clicked into gear.

There were some brilliant individual performances, none more so than in Group B. Kevin Cooper won all four of his games and recorded a superb 18 ton plusses, including a maximum 180 as his side the GER Outsiders lost 8-4 to the GER Posh Canaries. Tony Smith included a maximum 180 in 12 ton plusses for the Posh Canaries.

Group leaders, One Vision beat the Sportsman B 10-2. Dave Pinder included two maximum 180’s and a 106 finish in 10 ton plusses; team mates Ashley Loveday and Jamie Long recorded 8 tons a piece with Jamie also hitting a maximum. For the Sportsman, Dan Beaney recorded 8 ton plusses in just two games of singles and Bob Avenell had a 122 finish.

Sweeney Todd beat the Crown 9-3. Steve Carrett included a maximum 180 in 13 ton plusses; team mate Adam Cousins included a 160 away in 11 ton plusses for the GER side. For the Outwell side, Gary Hunns hit a maximum and John Porter included a 100away, three times in 9 ton plusses.

In Group A, GER B continue to set the pace and ended Top Flight’s unbeaten run with an 8-4 win. GER B recorded 41 ton plusses as a team. Brian Jones included four 140’s and a 104 finish in 14 ton plusses; Roy Wojtowych hit 11 tons; Leon Womack included a maximum 180 in 8 tons and Mick Wyles also recorded 8 tons for the GER side. Chris Nash was in great form for the USC side including a fine 124 finish in 12 ton plusses.

GER Souls scored less ton plusses than Sportsman A, but ran out 8-4 winners. Paul Wenn was in great form including a 152 away and six 140’s in 13 ton plusses.
