Chatteris stay top of the table after beating the rain




Chatteris remain top of the table after being the only Fenland side to survive Saturday’s heavy rain.

In a Cambs & Hunts Senior Two game restricted to 30 overs per side, they beat struggling visitors Linton Village by 57 runs.

After being asked to bat, Chatteris made 155-6, opener Anthony Bamford top scoring with 51 from 73 balls, including four fours and a six.

He was supported by wicket keeper Charlie Munns, who hit 29, Peter Munns, who scored 25 from just 20 balls, and Liam Boxall, who made 19 not out.

In reply, Linton made just 98-8 from their 30 overs, Billy Munns the star with 3-10 from six overs, with a wicket each for James Wood, Anthony Palmer, Shimron Thomas and Peter Munns.

Wisbech Town 2nd’s home game to Wlibrahams in the same division was cancelled, as was the first team’s match at Upwood in Division One.

In Division Three, March Town’s home game against Barnack was abandoned with the visitors on 39-2, Samuel Clarke having taken 2-19 from five.

Wisbech 3rd’s game at Burwell & Exning 4th in Junior Four North was abandoned with the home side having faced just one over and March 2nd’s game at Chippenham 2nd in the same division was called off with the visitors 39-0 from 14 overs, Harry Lefevre 11 not out and Theo Liversedge 24 not out.

Wimblington were 18-1 from 4.5 overs at Wilburton 2nd when their game was abandoned, Adam Baker on 10 not out.

The game between Wisbech Town 4th and Camden 2nd in Five North was cancelled. Chatteris 2nd had no fixture.

Next Saturday, there is a big game for fourth-place Wisbech Town in Division One, when second-place Burwell & Exning are the visitors.

In Division Three, second-place March Town are at home to fourth-place Huntingdon, both games starting at noon.

All other games start at 1pm, with leaders Chatteris away at third-place Telugu Association of Cambridge in Senior Two, with the bottom two meeting at Linton Village, where Wisbech 2nd travel to play the side one place above them.

In Junior Four North, the top two meet at Wimblington, where March 2nd are the visitors, with seventh-place Wisbech 3rd at Sutton 2nd in the same division.

Second-from-bottom Chatteris 2nd entertain leaders Ramsey 3rd in Five North, while bottom side Wisbech 4th are at home to fourth-place Over & Willingham 2nd.
