Poole and Hopkins book their places in the final

On Saturday, Steve Poole booked his place in next year's prestigious final at Buttonhole Lake in Marshland St James.

Poole caught 38lbs 5oz from peg 10. He started catching a lot of smaller fish then the big carp moved in. Steve fished dead maggot as bait to end up with the winning weight a 10lbs carp on the final whistle securing victory.

Runner-up was Nev Hopkins on peg 2. He fished the tip rod and caught three decent carp and a net of silvers to book his place place in next year's two-day final.

Section 1 winner was Jez Thorneycroft off peg 23 and section 2 winner was Nathan Hopkins off peg 6.

The next qualifier at Buttonhole Lake will be on Saturday, January 2, subject to any further coronavirus restrictions.
