Our featured match this week saw Tydd Reserves win a seven-goal thriller at Hampton Reserves in the ChromaSport Peterborough League Division Three.

Tydd started strongly in the second half which resulted in a great finish from Jordan Clow on his return to the club. The visitors then extended their advantage to 4-2 with a well worked team effort resulting in a goal from Xavier Kitching.

Wisbech took the lead when Pawel Kaluzny squared the ball to Hempson who beat the keeper to the ball and slotted home. However, the Knights fought back to lead 2-1 at the break.

In the second half Wisbech seemed to play with a lot more purpose and attacking threat and it was not long before Hempson again got onto the end of a Kaluzny through ball and converted the chance to level the game.

Wisbech were now dominant and the third goal came from a through ball from midfield that Kaluzny raced onto and buried. Hempson completed his hat-trick when the ball fell kindly for him in the area and he kept a cool head to finish, and he then capped a brilliant display when heading in a cross from the man of the match Micah Baxter, making his debut.

Fenmen boss Jonny Pearce said: “I am really happy for Dan (Hempson). He has been lacking confidence lately and today I asked him to play more central and he got his reward for doing that. Being behind at half time, they could have backed off and gone into their shell but they showed character and resilience to fight back which I am really happy about.”

Postponements meant there was no local action in Divisions Two and Four. In Division 5B, Leverington Sports A were soundly beaten 6-1 at Deeping United A, Ryan Chapman scoring.
