Ideal run for Virtual London Marathon training
With the Bedford Run festival being cancelled due to COVID-19, a few Three Counties Running Club members signed up to run the virtual event.
There was an offering of 5k,10k, half marathon and a 20 mile event, the latter ideal for members in training for the Virtual London Marathon on October 4.
Tracey Else completed her 20 mile training run with her support crew in a time of 3:20:01 and Johnny Beesley completed his along with Michelle Brown, in a time of 2:51:56. Mark Mattless completed his 20 mile solo training run in a time of 3:20:00.
Training is going really well for the members who will all be glad to put this marathon to bed as it has been a very long training period for them all.
Also running in the virtual Bedford run festival was Sarah Johnson, Zoë Gourley and Sarah-jane Macdonald. The three ladies have decided to take on two of the race distances with their first being the half marathon which they ran last weekend. It was a very warm but windy day with all three finishing the 13.1 miles at the two hour mark.
Last weekend in the beautiful English wine region of East Sussex and Kent, members Lorraine Parker and Gary Ingrey took part in an event called Trails and Vines.
Situated on the Kent/Sussex border, it was the perfect location to run beautiful trails, explore local vineyards and enjoy delicious wine and local produce.
The aim of the weekend was to have fun running in some of the beautiful routes, be introduced to a few different types of sessions that would improve their running, and enjoy some great wine and food with like-minded people.
The first run on the Friday was through the local trails to the world renowned Gusbourne Vineyard followed by some wine tasting.
On Saturday the couple were introduced to a speedwork session followed by more wine, which was certainly going down very nicely.
Sunday was the final day so a long-run was in order, on a stunning trail route along a canal and through fields, local villages and vineyards. A great weekend and with covering 23 miles, they certainly needed to keep hydrated!
