After winning his boat world wakeboarding title in September, Alex Wilson (9) from Walpole St Andrew did more of the same in Abu Dhabi for the WWA Cable World Wakeboarding Championships.

At the cable world championships there were competitors from all over the world, split into categories based on age for children and both amateur and professional categories for adults.

Alex was able to see some of the best professionals in the world ride.

Alex was in the age 9 and unders category. He was in a difficult heat but qualified first to get through to the final. In the final he had a brilliant run and came first. This gives him the title of WWA Cable World Wakeboard Champion in under 9s for 2015.

Alex has achieved a rare thing to win the double and get both world championship titles this year.

Alex’s younger sister Zoe, aged 7, also travelled out to the worlds. There are far less girl riders than there are boys so her category was aged under 13s where she came third.

Alex attends Anthony Curton Primary School where headteacher Mrs Senior continues to be very supportive.

Alex has a Facebook page showing what he can do which can be found at www.facebook.com/alexwilsonwakeboarder. He is currently looking for sponsorship so if anybody is interested could they please email through his Facebook page.
