Three Counties Running Club athletes run with their dogs in CaniCross events

Three Counties Running Club members are taking part in events called CaniCross, along with their fur babies.

They are special events tailored to allow owners to run with their dogs.

The word CaniCross comes from the Latin word canis, which means dog.

The runners have a special elasticated harness that is attached around their waist and then fastened to the dog’s harness.

There are many events around the country as this trend takes off.

The latest saw Kings K9 Caper team up with Kings Forest CaniCross to deliver an exciting CaniCross race.

The beautiful 5k trail route took the runners through Thetford Forest on a variety of wide, grassy/forest, traffic-free trails, making them ideal races to be enjoyed by both dog and owner!

Club members Tracy Adams with her dog Finn and Rachel Bowling with her dog Meg had a fantastic time.

Adams and Finn set a new personal best of 26min00sec while Bowling and Meg crossed the line in 33.53.

Elsewhere Janette Smith and Louise West ran in the Burghley 7 event, a stunning undulating seven-mile course through the heart of Stamford and the Burghley estate.

The course starts at the impressive Bottle Lodges Tudor Gatehouse and finishes in front of Burghley House. On a lovely sunny morning, Smith and West started and finished the race together, crossing the line in a time of 1:24.53.
