Great wins for Wisbech, March and Parson Drove but heavy defeat for Wisbech St Mary
There were wins for three of the area's four senior football teams this afternoon.
Wisbech Town, March Town and Parson Drove all enjoyed impressive victories, although Wisbech St Mary were heavily beaten.
In the Pitching In Northern Premier League Midland Division, Brett Whaley's Wisbech remain in the relegation play off place after an encouraging 2-1 home win against Corby Town, striker Sam Bennett netting twice on his home debut, including the 92nd minute winner.
March pulled off the result of the day in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League Premier Division, beating leaders Gorleston 3-1 to inflict only the second defeat of the season on the Greens.
Sam Garner gave the Hares the lead and Jack Friend made it 2-0 with 15 minutes remaining, before the visitors pulled one back. Friend's 18th of the season from the penalty spot in the final minute secured a great win in front of a season's best crowd of 254.
Parson Drove are up to 11th in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League First Division North after an excellent 3-1 win at sixth placed Huntingdon Town, Ryan Lennon's double taking him to eight for the season and Ryan Alexander also notching.
In the same division, Wisbech St Mary were thrashed 7-0 at Needham Market Reserves and remain bottom with just the one point.
