Wins for March Town and Whittlesey Athletic but Wisbech Town and Parson Drove lose
There were wins for March Town and Whittlesey Athletic this afternoon but defeats for Wisbech Town and Parson Drove.
March won 2-1 at home in the United Counties Premier South to ninth-place Coventry United who had beaten them 2-0 last month.
Matty Foy got both their goals in the 18th and 37th minutes to make it nine for the campaign before Scott Hammond pulled one back for the visitors after the break.
The Hares move up to fourth place in the table and are four points clear of Hinckley in sixth who are just outside the play-off places.
In United Counties Premier North, Wisbech went down 1-0 at 13th-place Gresley Rovers, the only goal of the game coming from Dylan Hunniford in the 59th minute. Fenmen skipper Kyle Baker was taken to hospital accident and emergency after receiving a nasty stud injury to his lower thigh just five minutes into the game.
The Fenmen are now fifth from bottom and four points clear of the relegation area, although they have played more games than the teams below them.
Over in the Thurlow Nunn First Division North, Parson Drove slip to eighth place and are nine points off the play-off places after suffering a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to fourth-place Diss Town while Whittlesey won 2-1 at home to Dussindale & Hellesdon Rovers.
Oliver Williams opened the scoring for Diss after 22 minutes, Kyle Baker made it two 14 minutes later and then wrapped up the points with his second three minutes before the break.
Over at Whittlesey, Ollie Gale opened the scoring for Athletic in the 11th minute with his first of the season but the 12th-place visitors equalised after the break. Jack Carter secured a second consecutive win for Athletic with his fourth goal in six games this season to lift them out of the relegation area. Alfie Fryett was named man of the match.
