Wisbech Town Cricket Club 4ths lose to Sutton but still in CCA Junior League 5 North promotion hunt




Wisbech Town CC 4ths are still in touch with the promotion slots despite losing at home to rivals Sutton 2nds by four wickets in CCA Junior League 5 North on Saturday.

Third-placed Wisbech posted 217-9 from 40 overs. Adrian Clare notched 37, Gavin Plume 57 with six fours, Dan Crossley 19, Jacob Philpott 15, Joe Brownlow 13, Adam Gardner 12 and Mark Godfrey not out 35, also with six fours.

Second-placed Sutton chased down 219-6 with nine balls remaining.

Adam Gardner grabbed 1-29, Amber Crossley-King 3-47, Godfrey a tight 1-17 off eight overs and Henry Plume 1-29.

Wisbech 2nds, level on points with ninth-placed AK XI, won by 41 runs at home to Cambourne in Division 3.

Wisbech, bolstered by a few first-teamers, reached 253-6 when their 45 overs closed.

The top four thrived - with Dom Stannard stumped for 64, Thomas Hoyle 69, Josh Bowers not out 73 and Danny Haynes 24.

Cambourne reached 100-1 but were 212 all out in 41.4 overs.

Brodie Ellis bagged 3-30, Joe Dunning 7.1-0-45-5, Simon Freear 1-28 and Matthew Parrin 1-27 for a 30-point home success.

Wisbech 3rds lost at St Ives Town & Warboys 2nds by 130 runs in CCA Junior League 2 North.

Opener Joshua Fox made 101 as St Ives set 247-8 in 40 overs.

Ali Anthony took 1-21, Robert Sidgewick 1-70, Tom Buck 1-36 and Matt Duff 8-0-44-5.

Basement side Wisbech replied with 117 all out in 32.4 overs.

Opening bat Martin Woollard compiled 12, Buck 22, Elliott Peck 16 and Anthony 30.

Sixth-spot Chatteris thrillingly tied their CCA Senior League Division 1 home game with Histon 2nds to bag 15 points.

Chatteris, who won the toss and elected to field, restricted Histon to 177-9 in 45 overs at Fullers Cricket Ground.

Matthew Hollis recorded 3-52, Peter Munns 2-18, Peter Gunn 2-14, Jake Kaval 1-18 and Billy Munns 1-12.

Chatteris were 177 all out, also from 45 overs.

Ben Hollis was run out for 32, Peter Munns 61 off 85 balls with 10 fours, Charlie Munns 22 and Billy Munns not out 20.

Number 11 Anthony Bamford was run out for 5 off the final ball of the innings.

March Town crumbled to a seven-wicket loss at Cambs & Hunts Premier League title-chasers Foxton Granta and face a battle against the drop.

March were hustled out for 74 in 30.3 overs in Whiting & Partners Division 1.

Only openers Aron Visser (lbw for 20) and Sam Robinson (caught for 24) made double figures as March collapsed from 48-1.

Foxton raced to 75-3 in just 11.5 overs. Robinson bagged 2-30 and Kian Pooley 1-14.

March 2nds lost to CCA Senior League Division 1 leaders Cambridge NCI by seven wickets.

March were 101 all out in 37.3 overs. Opener Nathan Oliver top-scored with 38, James Beresford added 20 and Matthew Vail 14 - but the rest made 11 runs between them.

Cambridge cruised to 104-3 in 22.5 overs. Nick Pooley took 1-41 and Matthew Lynn 1-21 to leave March in the relegation mire.

March 3rds conceded at hosts Wilburton 2nds in CCA Junior League 3 North.

Visitors Wimblington triumphed by five wickets at Isleham 2nds in CCA Junior League 4 North.

Isleham made a modest 101-9 from 40 overs.

Leon Walker captured 1-23, Francesca Plitsch 1-23, Poppy Cole 2-16, Paul King 2-16 and Kyle Butler 3-14

Fourth-spot Wimblington made a swift 104-5 from 15.4 overs. Keeper and opener Marc Eldred anchored the winning reply with an unbeaten 48, Connor Porter added 13 and Robert Kemp 14 at the Recreation Ground.
