Wisbech appoint Marshall and Kennelly as captain and deputy
Liam Marshall has been appointed Wisbech Town's new captain with Beckham Kennelly named as his deputy.
Liam (23) was vice-captain last season and he was very happy with his promotion: "I am delighted to be named club captain.
"Wisbech is a great club and it’s a real honour for me. We have a great set of lads ready for the season ahead alongside the coaches and gaffer who I’m sure will get the absolute best out of us as a group."
Manager Brett Whaley said: "Liam was the obvious choice for me to step up as captain. He was vice-captain last season and is experienced at playing at this level. He’s a popular and vocal part of our dressing room, so I’m confident he’ll do a great job."
New vice captain Kennelly (21) said: "I am thrilled to be named vice-captain; it's not something I was expecting. I still have a lot to learn and I'm sure I will in the coming months. I'm looking forward to the start of the season as we have a great set of lads and the management to really push us on."
Whaley added: "I think it’s a good progression for Beckham and he’s shown he has the character to become a captain in the future.
"His attitude and approach has been spot on since I came into the club and I think this role will help his development."
