Wisbech triumph in game where wicket not too far away
Wisbech won by four wickets in the Cambs Whitings League against Waresley in a game when a wicket seemed not too far away.
Wisbech bowled out the home side for 143 after Waresley stumbled to 45-4 and 95-7 with the wickets being shared about.
A brief tail-end revival threatened before Brodie Ellis (2-17) and Gary Freear (1-4) finished off the innings. Extras were third top scorers with 23.
In reply, Jamie Gollands and wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Bowers went cheaply before Freear (44 off 65 balls) anchored the innings with Sam Albutt hitting seven fours and a six in his 43 from 49 balls.
Following another mini-collapse from 100-2 to 116-6, when those two top-scorers plus Rhys Howell and Paul Edgeller departed, Jonathan Garner (not out 17) and Chris Clark (no 11) saw the visitors home with plenty of overs to spare.
Meanwhile, the county made a presentation to James Williams to mark his 100 caps for Cambs.
