Wisbech driver James Licquorice goes for King’s Lynn Adrian Flux Arena Volvo glory
Perennial Wisbech entertainer James Licquorice is rarely seen in the large Unlimited Bangers, preferring to wow crowds with barnstorming performances in the Micro, 1500cc and 2L Bangers.
However he was in action in the all Volvo meeting at King’s Lynn's Adrian Flux Arena last year where even by his high standards he had one of his best meetings of 2018 – taking a heat win and winning an entertainer award with one of his typically crowd pleasing displays!
It was no surprise therefore that he was one of the first drivers to book in for this year’s take on last year’s Volvo meeting which takes place in Lynn this Saturday (5.30pm). The meeting is also open to Mk 1/2/3 Granadas – and this event is looking like being one of the highlights of 2019 with fantastic support from drivers seeing a terrific 98 cars booked in as we go to press!
Many of the sport’s top entertainers are booked in with a large local contingent of drivers being joined by top stars from all over England, together with drivers also coming from Scotland, Ireland and mainland Europe.
Elm brothers Nathan and Nicky Young are also booked in for action.
This pair are always fan favourites and with Nicky currently warring with a number of drivers who are booked in he can be guaranteed to be a driver few will take their eyes off throughout the evening!
Veteran performer Chris Malkin is normally seen officiating in the Scrutineers bay these days but this meeting has even tempted him to dust down his helmet and get back out trackside!
Racing this Saturday also comes from the 1300 Stock Cars and the Junior Bangers.
Relative newcomers to the formula Ross and John Klyn return on the back of producing their best performances in their short careers at the World Final meeting a fortnight ago where both were rewarded by top places and gave a strong indication that it will not be long before they take their first wins in the formula.
Will that be happening this weekend – don’t be surprised if it does! Scott Sparrow will be looking for a return to top form whilst Barty Ketteringham will be hoping a new engine in his new car will have cured the gremlins which forced him to be a late withdrawal from the World Final meeting a fortnight ago.
Louie Cottrill and Lennie Murkin head the local Junior Banger entry.
