Wisbech Grammar School rugby star Lucy Lim from King's Lynn scouted by Saracens
Wisbech Grammar School's rising rugby star Lucy Lim has been scouted by Saracens.
Lucy is currently a 6th Form pupil at Wisbech Grammar School (WGS) and is currently studying A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Geography.
She hopes to study Medicine at university in 2020.
This is her 14th year at WGS and Lucy from King's Lynn has always played hockey and loves going to the gym.
WGS coaches spotted how talented Lucy was and kept encouraging her to take up rugby, and since Lucy took their advice, she has not looked back.
Her journey into rugby started at the end of February 2019 and Lucy took to the game very quickly, enjoying the adrenalin when she scored a ‘try’.
Lucy started training and committing to the game and while attending The Rosslyn Park National Schools Rugby 7s Tournament with WGS, she got scouted by England coach, Amy Turner.
Lucy was invited to trials for Saracens and has since been training in their centre of excellence’.
Saracens Women are a Tyrrells Premier Rugby side who are back to back champions of the Tyrells Premiership (2018 and 2019).
They are part of Saracens RFC who's men's side are reigning Premiership and European Rugby Champions.
Lucy said: “I was very surprised and happy at being selected to play for Saracens as I had only just taken up the game.
"I train with the squad once a month and I hope to be selected to start playing matches in the near future”.
Head of rugby Alex Laybourne said: "I am delighted for Lucy, she has always been an excellent athlete and has made the transition to the game with ease, taking on our advice and guidance along the way.
"The girls' rugby programme has continued to grow and go from strength to strength over the last seven years and it is fantastic to see this recognition of one of our students."
