Wisbech gym is among the top five in the United Kingdom

A Wisbech gym is celebrating after being named gym of the year for the east of England and East Midlands - less than a year after first opening its doors.

Boxcross UK, based at Regal Road, topped the east of England and East Midlands category at the BTS TV Awards and was named as one of the top five venues in the whole of the country.

Already regarded as one of the best facilities in the world, Boxcross UK underwent a £250,000 facelift in August by opening a new Nautilus strength centre.

Proprietor Damien Pearl welcomed the news, saying: "We didn’t win the UK Gym of the Year vote, but we are incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved together in such a small town.

"In under 12 months of trading—most of our growth happening in the last three months since opening our bodybuilding side—we’ve shown what’s possible when a community comes together.

To put things into perspective, the winners have been trading for over 14 years in a city with 20 times Wisbech’s population.

"The second-placed gym has been open for more than six years in one of the largest cities in the UK with 50 times our population.

while the third-placed has been running for 12+ years, just outside the UK’s second-largest city.

"Finishing fifth against these giants is an incredible achievement! And with the ambitious plans we have for growth, imagine what we can accomplish in areas with larger populations.

"We’re so proud of what we’ve built here at Boxcross UK, and this is just the beginning. We’re already frantically sourcing new premises to bring the Boxcross experience to new locations.

The gym has recently opened up a tanning studio.
