Wisbech start season with two victories
Wisbech top the early Cambridgeshire & Huntingdonshire Premier League table after winning their opening two matches of the season.
After winning their opening match by 100 runs at Stamford last Saturday, Wisbech won the reverse fixture by 92 runs at Harecroft Road.
Batting first, Wisbech made 328-8 from their 50 overs, Jamie Seabrook following up last week's 117 by hitting 97 off 92 balls, including 13 fours, before being caught.
Sam Albutt got 82 from 88 balls, with 16 fours, before being clean bowled, Ryan Clark made 35, Josh Bowers 34 and opener Gary Freear 12.
In reply, Wisbech's attack kept Stamford to 236-9 from their 50 overs, Gary Freear taking 3-27 off 10, Chris Clark 3-40 off eight, Josh Porter 2-39 and Kieran Haynes 1-28.
March lost by four wickets at home to Foxton Granta. Batting first, March were 239 all out from 49.5 overs, Brandon Phillips top scoring with 51. A Visser made 45, Ruwan Pitigala 34 not out, Udana Ranathunga 26 and Adam Conyard 17.
The visitors got their runs with 5.2 overs remaining, as March racked up 42 extras, including 36 wides. Ross Clarke returned figures of 2-38 from 6.4, but was also responsible for 14 of the wides. Shae Pooley took 2-55 off 10, Phoenix Nightingale 1-34 off 10 and A Visser 1-53 off nine.
Wisbech 2nds made a losing start in Division Three, going down by 26 runs at Cambourne. The home team made 246-6 from their 45 overs, Brodie Ellis taking 3-66 off nine, Ian Bell 1-33 and Ali Anthony 1-47.
In reply, Wisbech put on 72 for the opening wicket before Tom Jupp was caught for 26. Fellow opener Dom Stannard made 44 and Jason Esser came in and hit 74, but the run rate was not enough and Wisbech reached the end of their 45 overs on 220-8.
In the CCA Senior League Division One, Chatteris enjoyed a seven wicket home win over Longstanton Grasshoppers. The visitors were 168 all out from 41 overs, before Chatteris scored 171-3 from 42 overs.
In the same division, March 2nds went down by 175 runs at Horseheath. The home side scored 275 all out from 44.2 overs, Edward Rogers and Nathan Oliver both taking 2-39, Tommy Howgego 2-54 and wickets also for Charlie Revell, Kian Pooley and Joseph Taylor Clarke.
In reply, only Rogers (30) and opener Oliver (26) made double figures as March were bowled out for 100 from 21.3 overs.
In CCA Junior League 2 North, Chatteris 2nds won by four wickets at Over and Willingham. The home side were 123 all out from 39.5 overs, Luke Matthews taking 4-21 from 7.5 overs and Harry Matthews 4-23 off four. There were also wickets for Gugan Kupendran (1-25) and Jago Pearson (1-18).
Chatteris won comfortably, reaching 126-6 from 34 overs, Daniel Berrill top scoring with an unbeaten 36, Charlie Munns hitting 26, Oli Bailey 22, and Oliver Tilbrook 10 not out.
